Ed Mell: One-man Show

The provocative visions of the southwest in this year’s show will immediately captivate you. Ed Mell probes the sublime qualities of the arid landscapes with the combination of geometry and light that has become his trademark. In this collection, the artist explores his connection to the land he loves in his incredible paintings of vast desert vistas, dramatic storms, and the people, horses and flowers that populate the terrain. The raw emotional power of these paintings simply reinforces his long-established reputation as the master of the southwestern landscape.

For the eighth consecutive year, we are hosting our annual solo show of Ed’s incomparable paintings. Delight your eyes and inspire your imagination as you explore legendary locations through the vision of Ed Mell.

Reception for the artist: Thursday, March 13 from 7 to 9 pm

Through Russian Eyes:
Impressionist Paintings by Russian Masters

In our season-long show, you will witness the powerful beauty of a vast land and the soul of its people through the eyes of Russia’s master impressionists.

We have assembled a visually stunning collection of impressionist paintings that are particularly significant in their historical context. Impressionism has a fascinating history in 20th century Russia. Rejected by the Avant-garde artists of the 1910s and 1920s, considered too bourgeois for the socialist realism of the 30s, and not progressive enough for the socialist realism of the 40s and 50s, it existed on the fringes of the Russian art world, in the private places of the artists’ homes and studios.

This collection of paintings represents the rich cultural heritage of Russia in a style that is historically significant and emotionally evocative in composition and form. We invite you to see beautiful depictions of the human spirit through the eyes of these outstanding Russian Impressionists.

Gary Ernest Smith: One-man show

From the Ground Up – Agriculture, Architecture, and the Art of Rural Life

Rediscover the richness and diversity of our rural heritage in our 23rd annual one-man show for Gary Ernest Smith. This brilliant new body of work awakens the sense of importance of our rural roots and connects us to the people that built that heritage. When he paints, Gary expands his vision beyond what the eyes sees by pushing the boundaries of color, using sumptuous paint texture, and creating a composition that invites the viewer to explore every inch. He does not simply chronicle the rural landscape; he imbues each canvas with his passion for what it symbolizes.

The paintings of this incredible artist quietly celebrate the integrated whole of agrarian culture by capturing the peace and harmony of the land and the dignity of its people. We invite you to feel his love for rural life – from the ground up – through the vision of Gary Ernest Smith.
